Black heads are unsightly black dots that appear on the face when pores in the skin get clogged. When pores get clogged, oil gets backed up and blackheads and/or whiteheads form. We all secrete oil from our pores, but some people have more oily skin than others and are more prone to blackheads.
It can be easier to prevent blackheads than it is to get rid of them. Instead of trying a blackhead home remedy, consider these simple steps for clear and healthy skin:
Wash face daily with a mild cleanser and warm water. Be gentle. Don't use bar soap on the face because it can clog pores.
Gentle exfoliants can be used to remove excess skin cells so they don't clog up pores. This can also be a good blackhead home remedy if you do get blackheads.
Don't use make-up on skin that is prone to blackheads. If you do use make-up, use a hypo-allergenic brand.
Avoid oily foods. Instead, eat foods high in beta-carotene, like carrots, cantaloupe, and other yellow-orange fruits and veggies.
If you have blackheads, don't pick at or squeeze them. That is not a good way of how to get rid of blackheads. It will cause more inflammation in the area and just make matters worse.
Now that we have gone over prevention, lets talk about how to get rid of blackheads. As we said, most home remedies for blackheads do not work.
So, how to get rid of blackheads if preventative measures don't work? There are a number of options.
Many of the ';treatments'; used for blackheads can actually cause more damage. For this reason, many people look to try home remedies for blackheads. However, since most home remedies are ineffective, you need to consider other alternatives. Lets look at some treatment options for how to get rid of blackheads.
There are many over-the-counter treatments for acne and blackheads. These may be good for dealing with blackheads when you get them, but they don't always prevent new ones from forming. Some over-the-counter treatments are harsh on the skin and cause more irritation and can make the problem worse. If you use over the counter remedies, look for one that contains benzoyl peroxide or salicyclic acid.
Clay masks, which can also help prevent blackheads in those with oily skin, is a blackhead home remedy that some people have had success with. Avoid masks that contain peppermint or other mint because those can be irritating to the skin.
There are prescription medications designed to treat acne. One of the most popular of these is Accutane. Medications like these carry the risk of serious side effects, though. For example, Accutane cannot be taken during pregnancy, as it causes birth defects.
There are other treatments that can be provided by doctors, such as a chemical peel. This basically removes the top layer of skin from the face, leaving fresh-looking new skin behind. There is nothing to prevent blackheads from coming back, though. This is a pretty harsh treatment, and is generally recommended only if other treatments fail.
Because many over-the-counter and prescription treatments for acne can be irritating to the skin and may even make the problem worse, many people are now looking for an alternative that can treat the problem naturally and without side effects. Natural treatments are becoming the most popular treatment for acne. The problem though, is finding the right natural treatment for youWhat can I do to get rid of blackheads?
You need to gently steam your face, pour freshly boiled water in a big bowl and put your face over and cover your head with a towel (do this with freshly washed skin.) You're best off using a tea-tree oil face wash (they sell it in superdrug) The astringent you're using is stripping your skin of its natural oils and stimulating it to produce more. Once you've done the steam for around 10 minutes, pat your face dry, and gently squeeze the blackheads out with clean, tissue covered fingers. The steam will open your pores and make this easier to do. Wash your face again after, and apply a light non greasy moisturiser for oily skin. Steam once a week, and every now and then use a face mask (again you can buy sachets of this for 拢1 from superdrug/boots; the montagne de Jeunesse ones are good) it will give your skin a deep clean and draw out any impurities.
Astringent. It hurts a little but seriously, it gets rid of them and they are gone for a long time as in like 2 weeks you won't have the faintest sign of them. It actually is excellent and you should be able to get some in your local pharmacy. Once in the morning, once at night for a week. That is definitely what I have found to be the very best for them.
